Mews Hall (also known as "The Mews") is Cornell's newest residence hall. Its 279 first year students are located centrally on North Campus. Nearby is Helen Newman hall, which offers a variety of physical fitness opportunities including bowling, swimming, weight lifting, and a gymnasium. Fuertes Observatory, Beebe Lake, and two of the best dining facilities in the country are practically next door. Central campus and most of your classes are a short and scenic ten-minute walk.

A staff of nine Resident Advisors provide an array of programs that intend to help all residents adjust and succeed at Cornell. Examples include social activities to get to know living in the community, academic support, and everything in-between. Incorporating diversity into program is intentional and intended to help create a community based on respect and inclusion. The staff eagerly awaits the opportunity to create amazing programs and is always willing to take the residents' suggestions.

The Mews offers a lot of responsibility and opportunity to the residents of the building, especially in the areas of leadership and programming. A Hall Council will meet and discuss building issues as well as provide additional social programming for The Mews. A student committee called the Community Outreach Group is in charge of community service opportunities. The Mews also operates a student Judicial Board. Most behaviors by a resident that are in opposition to the safety of the building or the established community standards will be brought before a panel of peers.

The Mews is proud to work with a terrific group of faculty members who have volunteered their time and interest to the building and its residents. One Faculty in Residence and three Faculty will take part in many of the buildings programs and hope to become a part of each residents life over the course of the year.

Inside The Mews one will find a combination of single and double rooms, all air-conditioned, with access to CUTV and the Internet. Each floor has two study lounges and a TV room. There are numerous common area spaces designed for social gatherings, lectures, and studying. A bike storage room and kitchen are also available for student use. Mews is a term of English origin that is used to refer to a two-sided grouping of houses that face each other across a relatively narrow common space.
